WOMEN ARE THE PIONEERS OF CHANGE IN OUR SOCIETY. THEIR ROLE SHOULD NOT BE CONFINED TO THAT OF CARETAKERS AT HOME BUT SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO NURTURE THEIR CAPABILITY AND SKILLS IN VARIOUS OTHER ARENAS

We feel strongly about women empowerment and wish to initiate maximum women involvement in nation building. Women for Change program aims to acknowledge women’s contribution and amplify their voices to empower them. We want to help women gain economic autonomy, social engagement and legal rights through our projects designed especially to cater to their needs.

Under WFC, CREASION will provide services in agriculture, SME startups, vocational trainings and awareness programs to equip women to transform their lives. Through different projects, under other programs we have already reached 4500+ women. Through WFC we aim to increase that number:

THE CHALLENGE

The status of women in our society is still at the bottom. Violence and discrimination centred around women is still very rampant and has affected many lives. Deep- rooted patriarchy has escalated unfavourable situation for women and paralyzed their growth as well as jeopardized their rights as a human. This has created a massive gender disparity and also refrained women from opportunities that could possible better their future.

THE INTERVENTION

Sakcham Mahila Resource Centre has been planned as an avenue for women to receive employment opportunities as well as enhance their skills. It is a resort cum hotel management centre in Burunchuli that will operate as an economic centre all the while providing a means to earn livelihood for women and enhance their status.

THE PROCESS

Sakcham Mahila Resource Centre initiates the involvement of women survivors of violence back into the mainstream society so they can uplift their status and also contribute towards the economy. The project will integrate lesser privileged and marginalized women in the process, train them in hotel management skills and then provide them employment in the resort.

THE CHALLENGE

Women are primarily taken as care takers and their role is simply confined to that. This limits the potential of women and also impacts their self- esteem, confidence and pushes their status back in the society. Their domestic work is only taken as a mere form of unpaid labour and their hard work is not appreciated enough. Simply because their work is not equated to mere sums of money, their worth in the society is not taken to be very high. This has only aggravated the discrimination that they face and also constrained their capacity.

THE INTERVENTION

Women for Sustainable Development is a project set to be launched in Province 1 and Province 2. The project focuses on recognizing the contributions as well as the skills of women and engaging them in the workforce by creating platforms and suitable opportunities. The motive behind the project is also to rectify the root social structures that limit women and plan interventions to eliminate them from the society.
