On May 31st, 2024, the CREASION team united with youth, the Armed Police Force (APF), Nepal Police, Traffic Police, and other stakeholders. from Golanjor Rural Municipality for a River Clean-Up Campaign.

Following a three-day capacity-building training for selected VFC-Youth Cohorts from Bardibas, Bharatpur, Gajuri, Golanjor, Hetauda, Icchhakamana, and Lalitpur, these dedicated youths led the clean-up efforts with remarkable collaboration. Despite the intense heat, participants remained steadfast in their mission, hghlighting the crucial message of maintaining our rivers' cleanliness and promoting a plastic-free environment. The campaign spanned the highway, dumping sites, and the Sunkoshi riverbanks.

The vast quantity of plastic waste encountered was a stark revelation, underscoring the urgent need for collective action to preserve our rivers for the sake of the environment, people, and all living beings. Through this clean-up, we collected an astounding 24,000 kg of waste, underscoring the monumental importance of collective action in preserving our environment.

This River Clean-Up Campaign is an integral part of Project CAP (Collaborative Approach for Preventing Plastic Leakages in Rivers of Nepal), under the Plastic Free Rivers and Seas of South Asia project. The Golanjor Rural Municipality effort marks the beginning of many monumental steps ahead in our commitment to cleaner rivers.
